February is the month for love and for some that's an exciting time, but for many it only highlights the myriad hormonal problems they are suffering with in silence. I can't count the folks who have come to me asking for help for this area of life, so I decided to dig in and find some answers! Be warned- I am not a science teacher and get bored real fast with a lot of atom, neuron, receptor site lingo, so I'm going to tell you some things that can help and you can research them further if you'd like to know why they work.
Most Americans, male and female, have wacky hormones. Most of us are overly estrogenic and lacking in progesterone. These imbalances are due to many factors but the main ones are:
-Stress (emotional and mental)
Mental and emotional stress can begin to wreak havoc on our hormones even in childhood and can continue to spiral downward from there. It is very helpful for our children and ourselves to relieve as much stress as possible. One way to do this is by diffusing relaxing oils at bedtime. There are many to choose from but a few of my favorites are Lavender, Cedarwood, and Orange. These oils can help lift the weight of the day so you can close your eyes and get the reparative sleep that you need to balance those finicky hormones.
Chemical stressors range from cleaning, beauty, air freshening and lawn care products, to hormones in our milk and meat, and chemicals in our water. Many of these products have toxins with estrogenic properties which make our hormones go haywire. So what are you to do? Detox your life. One product at a time, as you can, start replacing these nasty toxin filled bottles with all natural health supporting products. Young Living has an amazing cleaning product line created with the Thieves oil blend that will get you well on your way to detoxing your home.
Next, you must detox your body. Aim to drink the suggested water for your weight and up your salad and greens intake and consider a high quality multi vitamin. I recommend Young Living's new Master Formula for both men and women- a daily pack with 4 capsules jammed with restorative goodness! Ningxia Red is my most favorite Young Living product for over all health and hormone balance. 1-2 oz of this beauty a day supports every system of your body and will have you puckering up in no time.
Physical stressors include lack of sleep, lack of exercise, lack of sex (for us married folk:) and lack of physical affection- which is especially hormone damaging in children. Besides daily exercise and better sleep, there are a few things we can add to our daily routine to get back on track! Omegas and protein! These are crucial for healthy hormone function and Young Living's got you covered there too! OmegaGize is a fantastic fish oil complex and there are a few different options we have for protein powders that the whole family can enjoy! A few other products to consider are our Life 5 probiotic and the oil blend Endoflex which supports the endocrine system and is also great for the whole family.
Hormones really are a big picture situation but now let's look at some specific sexy time oils. First let's help the ladies! So for overall hormone balance and testosterone function, Progesterone Plus is a major mother's little helper. It is a wild yam serum that is best applied to the neck and forearms daily. Dragon Time is the oil blend you will want for healthy emotions during your monthly cycle, and this is also great for the little ladies too! Cute name right? Is that what I'm like? Finally, Sensation is a beautiful blend that you can wear as a daily perfume, add to bath salts for your pre game soak and there's a Sensation message oil so you can get hubby in on the game- this message oil is gentle enough for the most sensitive of parts.
For the fellas, the oil blends Mister and Shutran are very helpful. Mister is great for those guys in need of a little extra support and Shutran makes a wonderful cologne which attracts the ladies and boosts masculine confidence. Man, why is it so hard to word things right for the dudes?
As you can see hormones can be tricky to figure out, but please understand that everything you do affects them! Be kind to them and they will be kind to you...and your hubby:)
Did you know that a hug held for at least 10 seconds releases oxytocin, which can help reduce stress levels and balance hormones? Go ahead and hold for 2 mins and you'll get a giant dose of God-designed Xanax! Go team!
