Let's learn about one of the most misunderstood oils in the Premium Starter Kit - Copaiba and/or Copaiba Vitality. (Same oil. Different label.)
Copaiba is made from the gum resin tapped from the copaiba tree native to Brazil and is known for its beta-caryophyllene content. A simple Google search of this word will open your mind to all the possibilities that come with Copaiba. It supports the respiratory, muscular, and skeletal systems, and is also generally useful as the body ages. In Peruvian traditional medicine, a few drops of the resin combined with some honey was commonly used to support the throat. Historically, native healers also used Copaiba topically to reduce skin irritations and soothe insect bites. Copaiba aids the body in it's natural response to irritation, so when life happens, grab your Copaiba, dilute with some carrier oil, and rub away. I love to add a drop of Copaiba Vitality to tea or Ningxia Red for overall wellness. Interestingly, Copaiba acts as a magnifying oil, meaning that when paired with another essential oil, it heightens the properties of that oil. Isn't that cool? Finally, Copaiba has a calming, soothing, and grounding effect on emotions. Try diffusing along with Frankincense and Lavender as you're winding down from a hectic or stressful day.
Copaiba comes from the Young Living farm in Guayaquil, Ecuador. There are nearly 2,000 acres of farmland that have a year-round growing season. This farm has the largest state-of-the-art distillery in South America. Copaiba is harvested by tapping the heartwood in the same way maple is tapped to make syrup. The resin collected is then steam distilled, sealed, and offered to all Young Living members for its incredible properties. You'll be hard pressed to find pure Copaiba essential oil with beta-carophyllene levels as high as Young Living's at 55 percent! This is the highest of any known essential oil. Copaiba can be found in several oils and products from Young Living, including Breathe Again Roll-on, Copaiba Vanilla Moisturizing Shampoo and Conditioner, Deep Relief Roll-on, Progessence Plus, and Stress Away.
