Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some questions that we hear a lot! We hope it serves you well, and hope to hear from you if you have any further questions.

1. Is Young Living a pyramid scheme?

A pyramid scheme is an illegal practice in which money is exchanged without a product. Young Living, on the other hand, is a multi-level marketing company. Multi-level marketing relies on people sharing a product they love. Instead of the company budgeting for big-dollar advertising, it pays the people who are personally sharing the products. Young Living chose this model so they could educate their customers on using essential oils safely and effectively, while highlighting why Young Living oils are different from what you can find at the health food store.

2. I'm confused. What's the difference between Myrrhmaids and Young Living?

Myrrhmaids is an organization within Young Living. Young Living is a multi-level marketing company, which means friends can sign up under friends, who sign up under friends, and so on and so forth. Myrrhmaids was started by Kate DeGraide, and it includes all the people signed up under her and all of her friends.

3. Why is the Premium Starter Kit the best deal?

The numbers speak for themselves! The Premium Starter Kit has a retail value of over $300 but only costs $160. Once you purchase the starter kit and become a Young Living member, you will also get a 24% discount on all future orders.

4. Are there any strings attached to my Young Living membership?

None whatsoever! You are never required to sell anything, make monthly purchases, or even make another purchase ever again at all. However, if you wish to keep an active membership and account with Young Living, you must spend 50PV every 12 months (PV stands for Personal Volume, and is typically equal to the dollar amount).

5. Why do I have to give my Social Security Number to join as a Wholesale Member?

With Young Living, you can sign up as a retail member or a wholesale member. As a wholesale member, you have the opportunity to receive a thank-you check when people sign up for their own membership using your member number. Because of this, Young Living is required by law to have a SSN on file for tax purposes. This information is securely vaulted and only accessed if you earn over $600 in a year, at which point you would receive a 1099-MISC form to report on your taxes.

6. Do I have to dilute my essential oils? And how do I dilute?

We always recommend diluting, especially when using an oil for the very first time. Some people prefer to use oils neat (undiluted), but other people have more sensitive skin and must dilute every time. Until you know your body's sensitivities, it's just best to dilute. Diluting does not make the oils less effective, so never be afraid to dilute. The label on your bottle of essential oil will give you the proper dilution ratio for adults and older children. For infants (newborn to two years old), dilute 1-2 drops per tablespoon of carrier oil. For children ages 2-6, dilute 1-2 drops per teaspoon of carrier oil.

7. What is a carrier oil?

A carrier oil is any fatty oil that can be used to dilute essential oils. We recommend using a high quality, organic, food grade oil. Some of our favorites are sweet almond, avocado, grapeseed, coconut, or Young Living's very own V6 oil.

8. Are essential oils safe for my children?

There are many oils we use on our children daily (diluted). Some great ones to get started with are Lavender, Frankincense, Tea Tree, and Peace & Calming. In addition, Young Living's KidScents oil blends and product line is specifically formulated for children. We encourage you to do your own research to find what you're comfortable with, and we're always happy to answer any questions you may have.

9. Can I use essential oils while pregnant or nursing?

Many of the Myrrhmaids enjoy using Young Living essential oils while pregnant and nursing. We always recommend starting slow, doing your research, and talking to your doctor. Young Living's Ningxia Red Antioxidant drink and Master Formula Multivitamins are fantastic additions during this important time.

10. Where is the best place to purchase roller bottles, salve jars, spray bottles, and other accessories for my essential oils?

We recommend buying from Abundant Health 4 U. They have a large variety of glass containers, as well as labels, storage accessories, books, and more. Also, when needed, we know that they use a high quality plastic that won't degrade when in contact with essential oils.

11. What should I try outside of the Premium Starter Kit?

The sky is the limit, but some of our favorite oils are Cedarwood, any citrus oil, Eucalyptus Radiata, Geranium, Northern Lights Black Spruce, Tea Tree, Christmas Spirit, EnRGee, Gentle Baby, Peace & Calming, Valor, Breathe Again RollOn, Deep Relief RollOn, or Tranquil RollOn. Some of our other favorite products are the Thieves Household Cleaner Concentrate, Thieves AromaBright Toothpaste, Thieves Mouthwash, Thieves Spray, NingXia Red, Life 5 Probiotic, Progessence Plus, Orange Blossom Facial Wash, and the ART Skin Care System.
